Interesting Storage Space for Books and Films: The Swollen Wall Apartment

Creating a personalized space inside an apartment can mean many things, depending on the inhabitant’s needs and wishes. This is why designer paulcoudamy chose to differentiate the interior design of this Parisian apartment according to the client’s love for books and films collection. He created a unique bookcase with undulating shapes and many versatile storage spaces. Names Swollen Wall Apartment, the residence features a floor to ceiling grid inserted along two main load bearing walls: “It goes above walls, through the bedroom’s dressing and can either create a half area in the entrance, or spread on the corner walls of the office which accommodate a guest bedding under the elevated desk platform.” The 20 x 20 cm squared grid is perfect for pocket books and some are enlarged to fit speakers, A4 files, vases etc. Here and there, closed blocks act like enclosed storage spaces for a mini bar, a dressing or devices storage. Thanks to digital manipulation, the bookcase features swollen or cut areas, creating an undulating second wall in the apartment.

Fun and Colorful Drawer with Textile Container

Poki is a fascinating design by Holm Giessler & Jennifer Heimann which reinvents the whole concept of a drawer. The product is composed of two parts: the upper drawer- an element which is common for all similar designs and an unusual addition consisting of a colorful textile container. Seen on Hummm… I see, the idea is as simple as it is creative and out of the ordinary. According to the designers, it was “inspired by old Danish sewing tables. Wall mounted or with legs, Poki is a perfect supplementary element for your bedroom, lounge or vestibule.” Aside from its adaptability feature, we would like to emphasize on its unique appearance. Using various colors, one can create unlimited drawer combinations which can turn a common, expression-free interior into a fresh and captivating living area.

Storage Unit Combining Functionality and Elegance by Designer Ka-Lai Chan

Ka-Lai Chan is a talented product designer currently living in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Her motto is creating designs that use personal experiences, emotions and fascinations for inspiration. For today we would like to showcase one of her latest design ideas, completed earlier this year.  Found on plusMOOD, SheLLf is unique furniture piece that can be characterized by elegance and functionality. Its name is a combination of the words “shelf” and “shell”, emphasizing on the original shape of the project. The compartments which make up this shelving unit have different forms, orientations and depths, making it possible for them to store a variety of objects. Their appearance is highly elegant and the wood contrasts pleasantly with the black frame, making this product adaptable to a large variety of interiors.

Original Wooden Espresso Machine by Oystein Helle Husby

Developed by Norwegian designer Oystein Helle Husby, the Linje expressomaker is an unusual coffee machine featuring a striking wooden finish. Found on Mocoloco, the product has a unique appearance and a well defined personality. Here is a description from the designer’ blog: As most of you know, coffee production is based around the equator. But we wanted to make the Nordic coffee. Not through the production of coffee beans, but through the users experience of making the coffee. The design would be our tool. So, what distinguishes nordic design? Wood, we thought. We have plenty of it, and the qualities of the material are many. By defining the core values of Norway and Scandinavia, and transforming these values into a design language, the result is a truly unique product. The machine is similar in function with other more common espresso makers, but its design definitely stands out.

Minimalist Storage Cabinet by Sophie Mensen

Designed by Sophie Mensen, this storage furniture is totally unique. We used to have wall-mounted or free standing storage but the Column is a ceiling-mount storage cabinet. This cool storage cabinet is more than just a decorative element in modern living room or library, but it can be very functional as well. Made of Cedar Wood, the cabinet is custom made by Kevin Hughes. Featuring lots of drawers in different sizes, this wooden storage’s doors can be opened in different directions. The storage is completed with pedestal that is made of solid Cararra marble. The size of pedestal is 45 x 35 x 35 cm. When you need a pedestal to take thing in higher place you can easily pull it under the cabinet and push it back when you’ve done with it.
